|Today was an exciting day! After pouring obsessively over my Bantam contracts for endless hours, I singed them and sent them off to New York! It's official! I feel like celebrating!
I finished the first draft of The Dark Garden, my first book for Bantam, on Friday. I'm taking a few days off to clear my mind before I go back in and edit and polish. My deadline is still almost 2 months away, so I'm feeling pretty good about it.
I've been talking with my friend Briana and thinking about those authors who have influenced my writing. One of them is Tanith Lee. She writes sci-fi, fantasy, and horror-really dark stuff-I've always loved her voice. Her writing is incredibly lush. She does things with the English language most of us are incapable of doing. She can make anything, no matter how frightening or tragic, seem lyrical and lovely. If this sounds like your thing, check out her books on Amazon. My favorites are The Silver Metal Lover, its sequal, Metallic Love, and her fairy tales-Red as Blood is really wonderful; dark, scary, sensual. I also love Biting the Sun and Drinking Sapphire Wine. She is incredibly prolific, so there are plenty of titles to choose from.
Don't forget, my contemporary erotic novella, Heat Wave, is still available at www.Phaze.com ! They've just released their Surge series-some great stories there, including Sunset Key by my friend Cassidy Kent: www.CassidyKent.com
And 101 Degrees Fahrenheit by my friend Eva Gale: www.EvaGale.com
Okay-off to write!
