Upcoming Booksigning, Tattoos and my wandering mind...

This coming Saturday August 4th from 1-3 PM, I'll be signing at The Book Ladies in Corona, CA for their Jungle Book Boogie with authors J.M. Jeffries, Sylvia Day, Cassidy Kent, Jenifer Apodaca, April Reign, Verna Hargrove and, if we're lucky, the fabulous Jina Bacarr!
Here's the address:
The Book Ladies
511 North Main Street, Suite 103
Corona, CA
If you need directions you can call the bookstore: (951) 808-4587
Come and join us if you can! This is a really fun group of authors, and there'll be some great books!

Meanwhile, I'm just working away trying to meet this years' deadlines. I just finished a novella for Bantam about a tattoo fetish-a subject very near and dear to my heart. What is it about tattoos? I've been fascinated since I was a child. When I was about 10 or 11, my friends and I started listening to Alice Cooper, T-Rex, The New York Dolls...these guys all had long hair and several of them were tattooed. Because of my age, I think, it was then that I developed the idea of what was attractive in a man, and this was it. I still love this kind of bad boy to this day-long hair, tattoos-even better if he can play music. It was years before I learned that musicians don't necessarily make good relationship material-but they sure are fun! And sexy!
And tattoos are sooooo sexy! I love them on other people, love them on myself, and wouldn't have stopped at two if my boyfriend weren't so opposed. To comfort myself, I gave the heroine in my tattoo novella, Sophie, one of the tattoos I want.
Is it just me, or does getting tattooed feel gooood? I love the buzzing hum of the needle, that moment of exquisite anticipation before it touches my skin, then the endorphin release after a few minutes...And there's something sort of extreme, a little hard-core, about making the commitment to have this image on my body forever that I love.
I know not everyone feels this way about being tattooed, but I also know I'm not the only one who does. But when does it go from being fun and sexy to being an obsession, a fetish? Maybe that's something each of us can only know ourselves.

RWA 2007 pics!

Lillian Feisty & me-Awards night

The Bantam signing-I thought my hand was going to fall off by the time it was over, but how exhilirating!
Me with Jina Bacarr on the train in Dallas

Me with Shelley Bradley at the Literacy for Life signing

The Divas in front of the tattoo parlor where Mel got her nose pierced and Crystal got her first tattoo to celebrate her first sale to New York!

Some of the Divas on the night we went to the drag karaoke bar (yes, it's more than anasty rumor):
Crystal Jordan, RG Alexander, Jax Cassidy, Lillian Feisty and me.

Larissa Ione, me, Stephanie Tyler-my Bantam anthology mates.

Me with Jaci Burton. I only fan-squeed a little, I think. Minor embarrassment.

RWA 2007 and other stuff!
So-I got home from the Romance Writers of America conference last night and I'm a total wreck. The usual post-conference blues. Symptoms include exhaustion, an inability to think, an inability to talk about anything other than the conference to anyone who will listen (or even those who really, really don't want to-my poor boyfriend!), and a bad case of post-conference depression. I miss everyone! I think I'm going through withdrawal.
Meanwhile, life has gone on here without me, so I'm doing tons of laundry, trying to unpack and get organized, and I have to write a book, which is now sadly behind schedule. *sigh*
I'm also preparing for an interview on Sirius Radio on the Playboy channel's Night Calls with porn superstars Ginger Lynn and Christy Canyon! The show will air live this Wednesday at 4:30 PM PST/7:30 PM EST. You're welcome to call in and ask questions-and anything goes on this show! You can call in here: (877) 205-9796. Please call in. Please. I'm afraid either no one will call because no one wants to talk to me, or it'll be a bunch of pervs who ask me weird questions. Oh wait, that'll probably be my friends. Yeah...
Okay-back to the conference (sorry-I'm a bit scattered). We had a great time. A bunch of us from Romance Divas, plus a few other conference-goers took a Hummer limousine Tuesday night to Illusions, a drag karaoke bar. Had a blast, but I can't say any more than that. What happens in Dallas stays in Dallas. Until the pics are posted all over the Internet, anyway. *G*
Lots of mingling and networking, and on Sunday morning I had my pic taken with Nora Roberts, but I can't remember who took it, so it may be a few days before I track it down. I did two book signings for my debut novel, THE DARK GARDEN: the Literacy Signing, which was fun, and I sold out of my books (yay!!! because I really was afraid I'd sit there all by myself twiddling my thumbs while everyone ran to get books from other authors), and the Bantam signing on Saturday. That was a truly amazing experience! I signed 150 books, and my hand was a throbbing (and not in the good way) claw by the time I was done. But I could not believe that people who don't even know me would wait in line to get my book! Thanks in large part, I think, to the gorgeous matted blowup of my 2nd Bantam cover, (THE DARKER SIDE OF PLEASURE, out October 25th) which is so beautiful and draws a lot of attention, so a big thanks to whoever at Bantam did that for me! And a huge thank you to RG Alexander and her dh, The Cookie (and OMG-did any of you smell him the other night?? I think I may have a crush), for carrying all my promo stuff in for me, and an even bigger thanks to my darling Crystal Jordan for being my booksigning bitch and slapping 'autographed copy' stickers on all the books, keeping my table stocked with books and my business cards at hand!
BTW-Crystal has an offer on the table which I think has not yet been officially announced-she got the call while at conference, which was awesome! So in between celebrating the rest of us were on a mission to introduce her to agents. I think she ended up with six. Should be some big news for her soon! I'm so damn proud of her-I knew you could do it, Crys!
What other trouble did we get into? On Tuesday a bunch of us went to Deep Ellum, the funky part of Dallas, and got Crystal a tattoo and got Mel's nose pierced, then we went to lunch at the Angry Dog. After lunch everyone went back to the hotel except for myself and the fabulous Lillian Feisty, my dear friend and fellow smut peddlar. We went shopping! I found this cool, funky jacket before we got too hot and tired and went back to the hotel to rest. Well, we were supposed to rest, but I'm pretty sure Feisty went to the bar.
A good time was had by all. I met so many people, and got to know others I'd only met briefly before. Loved seeing Stephanie Tyler and Larissa Ione, my Bantam anthology mates who also write together as Sydney Croft (no release date yet on that book, but stay posted!), the always fabulous Sunny, Jina Bacarr, Jaci Burton, who is such a doll, the amazing Pam Rosenthal, who I admit I gushed embarrassingly over a bit, and ohmygosh, I know I'm leaving tons of people out!
Sorry for the disjointed babbling-pics later after I get my brain working again.
Okay-going to shut up now and go take a nap.

Hi ho, Hi ho, it's off to Nationals we go...
So, I've been horribly remiss in updating my blog and now I'm off to the annual Romance Writers of America conference-I actually leave on the 9th, but there is SO much to do between now and Monday! Lots of packing, lots of writing, and I must get a good pedicure before I go. I'm SO excited! And a little scared. I have to do two book signings, which is a bit intimidating. But at least at the Literacy signing Wednesday night (open to the public, so if you're in Dallas, drop on by!) I'll be sitting next to the delightful and delovely Shelley Bradley (or her evil twin, Shayla Black-it'll be interesting to see which one shows up *G*), so maybe the hordes lining up to see her will leak over to my bit of the table and buy my book. I'll also be signing at the Bantam book signing on Saturday from 2:30-4PM, so if you're at the conference, please, please come and see me!
This year I have several events to go to, including the Booksellers Best Awards-my critique partner, the fabulous Gemma Halliday, is up for that one, so I'll be there to cheer her on. And we get to wear cocktail dresses! I'm a girly kinda girl, so this is fun for me.
I'm sure I'll have plenty of adventures to talk about when I get home, as usual-of course, it'll take a week to recover, so it may take a while for me to report.
Meanwhile, they're having a virtual 'Not Going to RWA Conference' Conference at Romance Divas. If you haven't registered on the forum yet, now is the time! There'll be workshops, agents and editors coming to talk-all kinds of fun and informative stuff! And it's free-as always!
Y'all behave while I'm gone!
